Kiernan Broom
Case Information & Details
A former soldier, Kiernan Broom, 33, has been convicted of rape at the High Court in Inverness, Scotland, on June 3, 2026. Broom had denied the rape charge, claiming the sexual activity was consensual, but a jury rejected his defense after a trial.
The court heard that the incident occurred on August 14, 2023. During the attack, Broom reportedly pushed the woman to the ground, restrained her, pinched her, sat on her, seized her by the throat, and compressed it, restricting her breathing. He also struggled with her, put his fingers into her mouth, forced it open, and then raped her, causing injury and endangering her life. Evidence presented in court stated that Broom "high-fived" his victim following the attack. The victim had asked him to stop, stating he was hurting her, and that she was going to be sick when he applied pressure to her neck.
Following the guilty verdict, Judge Pasportnikov deferred sentencing for the production of a social work report and risk assessment. Broom's bail was revoked, and he was remanded in custody. He was also placed on the sex offenders register with immediate effect. A future hearing for his indictment and deferred sentence is scheduled for August 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the High Court in Inverness.
