Murder of Adrian Murphy (2019)

• Key Facts: Joel Osei, along with his then-girlfriend Diana Cristea, used gay dating app Grindr to target men, drug them with scopolamine (known as "Devil's Breath"), and rob them.
• Victim: Adrian Murphy, a 43-year-old Irish dance champion, was found dead in his Battersea flat in London on June 4, 2019. A post-mortem examination revealed high levels of scopolamine in his system.

He also pleaded guilty to administering poison with intent to injure and seven counts of fraud, denying two counts of theft.

• October 23, 2020: Osei was found guilty of murder and administering a poison or noxious substance so as to endanger life following a four-week trial at Croydon Crown Court.
• January 22, 2021: Osei was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 32 years.

Domestic Abuse (2021-2025)

• Key Facts: Joel Osei subjected his girlfriend, Tianne Robinson, to domestic abuse, including strangulation, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior, after they began a relationship in 2021.
• Victim: Tianne Robinson tragically passed away from a blood clot on September 12, 2025, before a full trial for rape allegations could proceed. Her family stated her condition deteriorated due to Osei's abuse, though it was not determined to be the cause of her death.
• Charges: Osei was facing four rape charges, but these were not pursued after Robinson's death as she could not provide testimony. He denied all four counts of rape. He pleaded guilty to domestic abuse offenses including strangulation, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior.
• Court Appearances and Decisions:
• January 28, 2026: At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Osei received a four-year and two-month prison sentence for the domestic abuse offenses.
