Dominik Szymaski

Dominik Szymanski, 47, has been convicted and sentenced in the UK for rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and theft. The incident took place on September 2, 2025, in Swansea, where Szymanski met a vulnerable woman in the city centre and took her back to his flat. There, he raped and assaulted her before dragging her out of the property half-naked and "hurling" her into a lift. He also kept the victim's dog and arranged to sell it.

Szymanski denied the rape and assault charges, claiming no sexual activity occurred due to his inability to maintain an erection. However, he was convicted by a jury after a 10-day trial at Swansea Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to theft one week into the trial.

At his sentencing hearing in June 2026, Szymanski received a 16-year extended sentence as a dangerous offender. This sentence comprises 12 years in custody followed by a four-year license period. He must serve two-thirds of the custodial sentence before being eligible for parole, and he will be a registered sex offender for life.

Tragically, the victim died the day after giving evidence and being cross-examined in Szymanski's trial. The cause of her death remains unknown, though her mother stated her belief that Szymanski's actions led her daughter back to drugs and ultimately to her death.

Szymanski has a history of previous convictions, including battery and criminal damage (an assault on a former partner) and battery and assault on a police officer.
