Alun Cleary

Alun Cleary, a 38-year-old (as of June 2025) resident of Main Street in Belleek, Northern Ireland, has a documented history of criminal convictions and recent charges related to sexual offenses.

Past Convictions and Sentencing:

In October 2021, Alun Cleary (then 34) appeared before Dungannon Crown Court for sentencing. He admitted to over 60 offenses that occurred between 2009 and 2016. These charges included inciting child prostitution, engaging in sexual activity with children, and making, possessing, and distributing indecent images, some of which were in the highest category of seriousness. Cleary used false social media accounts, pretending to be a boy, to engage with young girls and incite them to create highly sexualized videos. A 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) was also imposed, prohibiting him from using internet-capable devices, associating with or contacting individuals under 16, and accessing social media sites. He was also indefinitely subject to Sex Offender Registration.

Recent Arrest and Charges (2025-2026):

Alun Cleary was arrested and taken into custody in June 2025 following new serious charges related to breaches of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). The alleged breaches occurred on May 31, 2025, and include five counts of breaching the SOPO, four counts of possessing an unapproved storage device, and one count of possessing an indecent image of a child. The SOPO breaches specifically involved accessing the social media platform Telegram, deleting his internet history, unlawful use of a computer, using a remote storage facility, and using an alias in communication.

Cleary was remanded in custody, and his prison licence for previous offending was revoked, leading to his recall to serve out his prior sentence in full. A detective sergeant involved in the case indicated that the charges might be interconnected, and a senior police officer described the case as "by far one of the worst she has ever seen."
